CREATIVE LEGACY - ART RESIDENCY

June 2019 | Liverpool Hospital, Palliative Care Unit| Groundswell Project
Sal Lavallee Creates Legacy Artworks for Palliative Care Patients, as Artist in Residence.
Creative Legacy is a groundbreaking arts and health program at Liverpool Hospital. Jointly founded by Flutter Lyon, The GroundSwell Project and the Palliative Care Unit at Liverpool Hospital, the Creative Legacy project complements the holistic care of cancer patients in Palliative Care.
Designed as an interactive experience between the artist and the patient to combine storytelling and art making, patients and their families engaged in intimate sessions held in patient rooms. Through a series of questions and storytelling exercises, the artist captured the life stories of people in the last days and weeks of their life in unique Aboriginal mandala artwork and sound recordings, which were then given to the patient and their family as a gift of art and legacy.

GIRLS ACADEMY EXPRESSIVE ARTS

2018 | Muswellbrook | Muswellbrook Girls Academy
Bogong Moth Art Established and Facilitates Cultural Expressive Arts Programme with Girls Academy
The intent of this program is for the students to connect to culture, land and spirituality through art. Using therapeutic and cultural processes the students create an artwork represents their personal connection to their culture and tells their story. The intended outcome is not so much the finished work of art, but the connection, cultural learnings and therapeutic practices that the students can take away and utilise. The artwork is a nice keepsake and reminder of the learnings and work they have achieved. The program is in it's second year running.
